A Mother’s Remarkable Journey: From the Loss of Three Children to Raising Triplets Amid a Stage 4 Brain Cancer Battle

Posted on January 11, 2026 by yasirsmc

Lori Coble’s life is a painful reminder of how suddenly everything can be taken away. In May 2007, she and her husband Chris were living a quiet, happy life with their three young children—Kyle, Emma, and Katie.

On what should have been an ordinary day, their minivan was struck from behind by a speeding semi-truck while stopped in traffic. In a matter of seconds, their world was shattered beyond recognition.

While Lori lay unconscious in the hospital, two of her children died from their injuries. When she awoke, she was rushed in a wheelchair to say goodbye to her last surviving child, Kyle. With unimaginable heartbreak, Lori and Chris held their son as life support was removed, feeling his heartbeat fade beneath their hands. By the end of that single day, they had lost all three of their children—a grief no parent should ever have to endure.

In the silence that followed, the couple struggled simply to survive. Their home, once filled with laughter, became painfully empty. Grief was constant and crushing, yet Lori and Chris made a promise to one another: they would not give up on life or on each other. Over time, through faith, therapy, and mutual strength, they chose to keep living, eventually welcoming triplets through IVF—two girls and a boy—exactly one year after their loss, a bittersweet miracle born from unimaginable pain.

For years, they built a fragile peace, believing the worst was behind them. Then, in 2025, Lori began showing subtle signs something was wrong. What started as clumsiness turned into devastating news: stage 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive and terminal brain cancer. After surgeries, complications, and worsening health, Lori chose comfort over more treatment, asking only to spend her remaining time at home, surrounded by love and familiarity.

Today, Lori’s story is not just one of tragedy, but of quiet endurance. She is a mother who survived the loss of her children, rebuilt her life, and now faces her final battle with grace and dignity. Her journey is heartbreaking, but it also reveals the depth of human resilience—the kind that continues to love, hope, and endure, even when life offers nothing but loss.
